Resumen: The present study intends to expose the diverse methods of the responsability of the preventive maintenance of the equipment of the Parfitt Tugboat of the authority of the Panama Canal (ACP), being based on the Methodology of the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and to need the reach and optimal way use of each one of the equipment, of the Parfitt Tugboat, in order to manage to increase the operational readiness of the Tuboat. The yields calculated in each case, in relation to the equipment are averages calculated during periods off-time that by means of the monitoring of condition it is tried to extend the life utlity of the Equipment, Components and Sub-Components. As for the maintenance, each extraordinary event must register in a format whose information compiled in the Failure Mode Effect and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) of the equipment, systems, component and sub-components, it will be helpful at the time of facing the faults, the conducted works and their duration. On the other hand this study of investigation will serve as guide to all that wishes to fulfill an intellectual task in which it concerns to the Reliability Centered Maintenance (R.C.M.). Its content will allow to include / understand the meaning of itself, in the measurement of its use and in this form, the reader will be able to guarantee the restlessness and proposal of the author.
